    While there are certainly several books to choose from, and they all have great information, a sleep consultant is able to fully customize a sleep method to your specific goals and needs. A sleep consultant can also easily see where and when adjustments need to be made, and can give timely advice to make the adjustments.

While I never recommend the cry-it-out method to my clients, it's important to understand that there may still be some crying involved during the sleep training process. However, it's normal to experience setbacks during the process. Generally, a solid change in independent sleep can be expected after 10-14 days of consistent effort.

In such cases, we encourage transitioning away from it. However, I've witnessed many moms continue nursing their babies to sleep beyond 18 months. Ultimately, it depends on what works best for you and your little one.
